Zolio — AI Hiring & Workforce Suite

01 · The context

Overview

Lead the frontend for Zolio, an AI hiring and workforce suite used by recruiters, candidates and colleges. Zolio Hire runs live conversational, standard, coding and MCQ interviews (React 18, Vite, Redux Toolkit). Zolio Skills is a multi-tenant assessment and analytics platform for colleges, and Zolio Workforce plans who staffs which project (both Next.js 16, React 19, TypeScript). All three share one login and a component library migrated from Material UI to shadcn/ui and Tailwind CSS.

02 · What shipped

Key deliverables

• Realtime conversational interviews using LiveKit, WebSocket messaging, screen sharing, and browser media APIs
• Secure candidate and invite-based session flows with guarded routes, token refresh, and session monitoring
• Recruiter modules for job stages, pipeline actions, search/filtering, interview configuration, and draft workflows
• Reduced API calls by 60% through optimised WebSocket-based data sync; built 50+ reusable components
• Zolio Skills: magic-link student flow to timed assessments, and cohort analytics in visx and D3 with virtualised lists
• Zolio Workforce: capacity planning, skill-gap heatmaps, and an "Ask" assistant that shows its plan, sources and approval step

My role

• Led frontend development for recruiter-side and candidate-side workflows
• Architected UI system migration from Material UI to shadcn/ui with standardised shared components
• Implemented authentication and RBAC patterns including protected routing and invite-based sessions
• Improved performance through route-based code splitting, lazy loading, and modular service-layer architecture
